We’ve Sent AGM Voting Packs To Members
If you’re an eligible Ecology member, you can now cast your votes ahead of our 2020 AGM. Your AGM pack has been sent by post or email and will contain all the information that you need to vote. Voting is your chance to have your say in Ecology’s work and we want to hear what you think.
How do I use my vote?
When you receive your voting pack by post or email you can vote in the following ways:
- Online by 5pm on Monday 27 April
- By post, which must be received by the Scrutineers by 5pm on Monday 27 April
- At the AGM itself on Thursday 30 April (subject to Government social distancing rules on the date of the AGM)
We recommend you vote online to avoid any potential disruption to the postal service.
Why are you still holding an AGM?
Even during the current coronavirus situation, as a building society, we are still required, by law, to invite members to attend our AGM in person within four months of our financial year-end (31 December).
In response to the circumstances we’ve decided to move this year’s AGM from London to Ecology’s offices in Silsden, West Yorkshire on Thursday 30 April. We haven’t made this decision lightly and have been in discussions with our trade body, regulator and other societies who are in the same position to explore options. The meeting will be limited to the formal AGM business and won’t include any additional sessions with external speakers.
We are very aware that any social distancing rules on the date of the AGM may result in it being difficult for members to attend. If you’re eligible to vote at this year’s AGM, we encourage you to cast your vote by proxy (preferably online) to participate in our democracy.
We take our responsibilities to our members very seriously as we find ourselves in this difficult and unusual situation and we urge you to follow any relevant Government guidance regarding travelling to and attendance at events on the date of the AGM.
How can I stay up-to-date?
We’ll be updating our dedicated AGM page with any further developments.
What happens if I’ve pre-registered to attend the AGM in London?
We’ve notified everybody who had pre-registered on Eventbrite to attend the AGM in London of the change of date and venue and now cancelled the London event.
What happens if I have a question for the Board?
You can submit your question to the Board by emailing [email protected] by 5pm on Monday 27 April.
How will I know the results of the voting?
We will publish the voting results on our website as soon as possible following the AGM.
And finally…
We’d like to say a big thank you to all our members for their continued understanding and support during this difficult time. We’re having to do things a little differently to maintain services to members so it may take longer than usual to respond to your calls, emails and online and postal requests. So that we can support those in the most vulnerable situations we ask that you only call if your enquiry is urgent and you haven’t been able to find the answer on our website.
